Hyundai Santa Cruz: Rear Bumper / Rear Bumper Assembly

1. Rear bumper assembly


- Replacement

   

• When removing with a flat-tip screwdriver or remover, wrap protective tape around the tools to prevent damage to components.

• Put on gloves to prevent hand injuries.

   

• Take care not to bend or scratch the bumper cover and panels.

1.Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

2.Remove the quater garnish.(Refer to Body Side Molding - "Quarter Garnish")

3.Loosen the mounting bolts, remove the rear combination lamp (A) on each side.

4.Disconnect the rear combination lamp connector (A).

5.Remove the rear bumper upper mounting clips.

6.Remove the rear bumper upper mounting screws (1 on each side).

7.Remove the mounting clips (2 on the left side) holding the undercover (A) and the rear bumper assembly together.

8.Remove the rear bumper beam mounting bolts (A).

Tightening torque :41.5 - 65.6 N.m (4.2 - 6.7 kgf.m, 30.6 - 48.4 lb-ft)

9.Disconnect the rear bumper main connector (A).

10.Remove the clips (4on each side) holding the wheel guard and the side of the rear bumper (A) together.

   

• Be careful not to damage the tabs on the side part of rear bumper.

11.Detach each side of the bumper by pulling on the upper flange (B), starting from the wheel arch area and working your way up.

   

• Be careful not to damage the tabs (C) on the upper flange of the rear bumper.

12.Remove the rear bumper assembly (A).

13.To install, reverse removal procedure.

   

• When re-installing the rear bumper assembly, make sure to re-connect the electrical connectors.

• Replace any damaged clips (or pin-type retainers).
